Parente on Pole for Pirelli World Challenge Race

Alvaro Parente, the defending Pirelli World Challenge GT champion, piloted his McLaren 650S to a fast lap of 89.84 mph, good enough to take pole position for the PWC race at 10 a.m.Sunday on the streets of Long Beach.

Parente also won GT Race 1 at the PWC season opener at St. Petersburg, finishing second to Patrick Long in Race 2.  Long, driving a Porsche GT3R, starts second Sunday after a qualifying lap of 89.72  mph.

Long currently leads Parente by the slim margin of two points in the point standings.

Top GTA-Class driver  was veteran James Sofronas, with a fast lap of 88.42 mph in his Porsche GT3R.
