Bennett Brothers Go 1-2 in Inaugural Can-Am Challenge

Craig and Kirt Bennett drove their 1974 Shadow DN4s to a 1-2 finish in the Can-Am Challenge race, part of Saturday’s action at the 43rd Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Craig Bennett finished 0.063 seconds ahead of brother Kirt, with an average speed of 82.780 mph.  Fellow Wixom, Michigan resident Claude Malette, driving a 1970 Lola T222, finished third.

Rounding out the top five were Iija Burkoff, (Sebastopol), 1970 Lola Ti 22 Mk II, and Dan Cowdrey (Westlake) 1966 Lola T70 Mk II.

The Can-Am Challenge was presented by the Historic Motor Sports Association (HSMA), which produces numerous historic racing events across the U.S.
