I don't know your political leanings -- being of the Canadian persuasion, it's no never-mind to me -- but if you like Drifting, you gotta like Cindy McCain.
Turns out the 54-year-old wife of Republican presidential nominee John McCain not only digs drifting, she went to Japan with son Jack to take drifting lessons!
"I love it," she told ESPN.com's David Picker. "I'm probably a little too cautious with it because it's abnormal from what you're taught when you're taught to drive. Everything you learned in driver's ed....forget it. That's what drifting is about."
Her childhood love of sports (including NASCAR and IndyCar racing) carried over into adulthood. When she suffered a stroke in April 2004, part of her therapy, at the urging of son Jack, was a 4-day course at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Arizona.
She did so well she returned again the following year, then teamed with Jack to rebuild a Nissan 240SX and compete as a mother/son tandem in a few amateur drifting competitions.
Be a hoot to see her at Irwindale or the World Championships, wouldn't it?
