DIXON WINS AT EDMONTON; TRACY MOTORS INTO 4th

admin | 30 July, 2008 09:42

Scott Dixon won his fifth race of the season -- one off Dan Wheldon's mark of six set in 2005 -- as he led 30 laps to win the Rexall Edmonton Indy on the Canadian prairies Aug. 26.

Dixon led Helio Castroneves across the finish line, and after the two IndyCar vets came three ex-Champ Car drivers...including a surprise top-5 finisher!

Justin Wilson was third, followed by Paul Tracy, making his 2008 IndyCar debut, and Oriol Servia. And, Tracy was hard-pressed to restrain his enthusiasm.

"I'm extremely, extremely excited," Tracy said. "Getting back in a car was a long time coming. And there was action all day long today...the racing was great!

"I hope the door is now cracked open for us, and me and Derrick (Walker, his car owner) can move forward and do something long-term."

Dixon now leads Castroneves by 65 in the points chase as the series takes a weekend off to prepare for the Sat., Aug. 9 Meijer Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway. The race will be televised at 6:30 p.m. E.T. on ESPN2.
