...I could probably get some dynamite odds on an ex-Champ car driver winning the Indy 500.
As of right now, six drivers who ran the Champ Car finale here in Long Beach are entered in the 92nd running of the fabled race -- Oriol Servia, Will Power, Bruno Junqueira, Mario Moraes, E. J. Viso and Enrique Bernoldi.
You'll probably get mega-long odds on all but Junqueira, who should feel right at home in Indianapolis. In 2001, he qualified 20th and finished fifth for Chip Ganassi. In 2002, he snagged the pole position and led for 32 laps for Ganassi before gearbox problems ended his day.
Switching to Newman Haas in 2004, he qualified fourth and finished fifth after leading 12 laps and in 2005 he started 12th, led two laps, and was involved in a shunt that ended his day.
Paul Tracy might have a shot since he started 29th and finished a controversial second in 2002....but he isn't entered. However, as of this writing there are still four "t.b.a" cars sitting there.
You never know.
