...at the Indy 500?
It's a gruelling month not just for drivers, but for team members, too. There are more than 2 weeks of intense on-track activities leading up to the green flag, and it begins this Sunday, May 4, with 2 days of rookie orientation.
Then the fun really begins, with 7 days of practice sessions, 4 qualifying days (Pole Day, positions 12-22, positions 23-33 and Bump Day), 2 days of pit stop practice (engines off/engines running) and, of course, race day.
Sandwich in a variety of parades, media interviews, photo sessions, personal appearances for sponsors and autograph sessions and everybody on the team - not just the driver! - has virtually a non-stop month.
Is it worth it? The winner of the 2007 Indy 500, Dario Franchitti, took home a tidy $1,645,233.
The 33rd-place finisher, Roberto Moreno, banked $224,805....and that was probably just enough to cover the team's room and board for the month!!!
