LITTLE HOLDS OFF SKINNER TO WIN PRO/CELEBRITY RACE

admin | 19 April, 2008 12:37

It was a finish worthy of the Good 'Ol Boys!

Celebrity driver Jamie Little, a NASCAR pit reporter, held off pro driver Mike Skinner, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion, in a fender-rubbing duel on the final turn of the final lap and held on to win the 32nd Annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race today.

Skinner, who led all qualifiers and, like all the pro drivers started 30 seconds behind the celebrities, moved up quickly through the field chasing Pixar Animation director/producer Brad Lewis, who started on the pole and led until the final lap.

Then, going into turn 9 of the final lap, Lewis lost control of his Scion tC and hit the tire barrier, opening the gates for the last-lap dramatics. Little crossed the line 0.324 seconds ahead of Skinner.

Daniel. Goddard from TV's "The Young and the Restless" finished third, more than three seconds behind Little. The final results of the 32nd Annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race:

There is no doubt that Jamie has quite a bit of experience racing cars and she showed it during this race. Coming from behind to "hold off" a Top Craftman's Truck Driver; how cool! Jamie kept the pedal to the medal and certainly deserved to win!! Awesome job, Jamie!!

The race was really cool, even if the announcer blew it on the final lap. Everyone was cheering for Jamie, she was great. My son is a football player himself for a local high school, and spent a lot of time waiting for Dickerson to appear, first got Tim Brown's autograph and said he was very stand offish and only interested in flirting with every skirt that walked by. I thought that was pretty typical. What was surprising was that Dickerson finally appeared and took the time to not only sign my sons book ,but also took some time to talk to him about football. Class act vs. Loser my nod goes to Dickerson. I also ran into Salley in the expo, he totally wrecked his car, but in person he was great, friendly, hanging out with the masses and really looked like he was having a good time with everyone. I would encourage LBGP to continue to find racers that want to be there to have a good time with all. Salley and Dickerson made it a very special event. Good Job guys : )

Whit Bazemore deserves a ride in NHRA. No exciting personalities anymore. Nice to hear of him again!
